Introduction

Mathematician, forest scientist by way of a music degree, and generally happiest outdoors with a good book.

This is a public log of things I'm reading, building, and thinking about. I'm a mathematician finishing a PhD in Finland, with a background in mathematics, music, and forest science, and this blog covers the range of projects I'm working on, professional and otherwise.

On the professional side, I'm researching where quantitative skills connect to sustainability work and creating a protfolio: climate, environment, policy, and the non-profit and institutional landscape. Each post covers something I've read, watched, or looked into: what it says, what it doesn't, and whether it points anywhere useful.

On the personal side, I'm also starting a letter subscription, fact-based but closer to "interesting things about potatoes" than mathematical reasoning. That strand lives here too. So does knitting, Finnish-language writing, and anything else that earns a post.
